Marisa Tomei plays Aunt May in the most recent incarnation of the Marvel superhero series, starring alongside Tom Holland who plays the titular Spider-Man. The actress recently revealed that she waned her character to be a lesbian in the Spider-Man films.
Despite the fact that May is married to Uncle Ben, who tragically dies, Tomei expressed interest in seeing her character have a girlfriend. She even suggested Sony producer Amy Pascal as a possible replacement for the rile. The 57-year-old recently made this statement on the show Geeks of Color.
“I had the impression that now that Ben was gone, she should just be with a lady. And we were kind of talking about it, and so I actually really wanted Amy Pascal from Sony to be my girlfriend. I was like, ‘No one even has to know, Amy. I’ll just be in a scene and you’ll be over there. And I’ll just be, like, ‘Hey!’ It’ll just be a subtle thing’.”
In the end, nothing came of it. “At the time, hardly one went for it,” Tomei remarked. This month, the third instalment of the new Spider-Man series was released in theatres. And the movie has blown through the box office in just a few days, grossing over $1 billion (£746,450,000) in just 12 days.
According to estimates, the three-day weekend brought in $81.5 million (£60,835,675). Tom Holland reprised his role as Peter Parker in the film, which is a co-production between Sony and Marvel-Cinematic Universe owners Disney. Zendaya plays Michelle Jones Watson, better known as MJ. Now we will have to see what’s next for Spidey.
