Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star Jennie Nguyen is not here to tolerate any racist remarks. Mary Cosby made comments about Nguyen’s “slanted eyes” recently. Nguyen was enraged and left frustrated by the comments made on the show.
On Sunday night’s episode of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City, Jennie confronted Mary Cosby for comments she made at a prior Pho luncheon where she told Jennie that she loved her “slanted eyes.” Early in the show, Jennie and her husband Duy addressed Mary’s statements, which she described as “frustrating” and “very mad.”
Jennie then told Duy that she wanted to convey her displeasure with Mary and explain how her remark had affected her. She retorted saying that the remark was textbook racist.
“You don’t say things like that. It is insulting to our Asian culture to call me that, and it comes across as racist. And it’s shocking cause Mary should be more educated and understand it’s not appropriate to say stuff like that.”
While the girls were all showing up to support Whitney Rose at a brand relaunch party later in the episode, Jennie gathered them all and took them aside so she could speak with Mary with witnesses to back her up. Jennie told Mary that her comments about her eyes had made her feel “insulted” when the group sat down.
Mary, on the other hand, was taken aback when she heard it from Jennie. Mary told Jennie that she didn’t “mean any harm” by her statement. Mary did apologize to Jennie for her remarks stating that she will never walk down that road.
