Nate Hobbs was the latest Las Vegas Raiders player to find himself in hot water. Hours after last Sunday’s game against the Indianapolis Colts, the rookie defensive back was arrested for driving under the influence. His future with the team was in question.
The arrest came after the team lost their head coach after a scandal rocked the front office. Henry Ruggs’ career is over after he killed a young woman while driving drunk. The season could not be going worse for Las Vegas off the field.
We now know that Hobbs will be available to play Sunday against the Los Angeles Chargers. TMZ Sports reported that interim head coach Rich Bisaccia confirmed the news at a Wednesday press conference. Hobbs’ punishment will come later.
“We take [the arrest] extremely serious, organizationally and certainly within our team. Based on what we’ve learned at this time, we expect Nate to play…
It’s a legal matter, and other than that I really have nothing else. We’ll leave it at that.”
Nate Hobbs’ attorneys have questioned the validity of the arrest. They believe that the Las Vegas PD might have made a mistake. Nate’s legal team isn’t even sure if the arrest qualifies as a DUI under Nevada law.
The legal situation will unfold in the courts. Nate Hobbs will take the field for a huge game with major playoff implications on Sunday. The Raiders will qualify for the NFL Playoffs if they beat the Chargers. The team will take care of their legal issues at a later date.
