Antonio Brown placed his future as a Tampa Bay Buccaneer in peril the moment he decided to take off his jersey and walk off the field in the middle of a game. The troubled wideout abandoned his team as they were taking on the New York Jets. Head coach Bruce Arians said AB was no longer a part of the team.
The head coach can’t unilaterally fire a player under contract. Those moves must come from the front office. The Bucs have now made the release of Antonio Brown official.
Brown claimed that he was unable to participate in the game because of an injury. An “independent” doctor hired by Antonio confirmed that he was unable to play Sunday and should have never dressed for the game. TMZ Sports reported that Tampa Bay officials claimed Brown never told them he was hurt in the first place as they officially fired him.
“While Antonio did receive treatment on his ankle and was listed on the injury report the week leading up to last Sunday’s game, he was cleared to play by our medical team prior to the start of the game.
And at no point during the game did he indicate to our medical personnel that he could not play. Maintaining the health and wellness of our players is of the utmost importance to our organization”
Bruce Arians spoke to the media in the wake of Antonio Brown’s official release. Arians claimed the reason for Browns outburst was because he wasn’t getting enough passes thrown his way. Due to his behavior, he might never see another target again.
