LeBron James’ contributions to the world of professional basketball cannot be understated. James suffered a serious injury to his right ankle in the Lakers’ game against the Atlanta Hawks back in March last year. Even after coming back, James has never been the same. It seems LeBron James doesn’t care about being the MVP right now.
As reported earlier, LeBron James was very close to surpassing Kobe Bryant when it came to overall points during Christmas. During the Lakers’ game against the Brooklyn Nets, James scored 39 points and easily surpassed Bryant’s record of 395 points in 16 games as James had 383 prior to the game.
Despite a very slow start, LeBron James improved tremendously in recent months. So much so, that James has been in the MVP discussion. While speaking to Clutch Points, LeBron James talked about being considered in the MVP race. James stated that he cares more about winning with his team than anything right now.
“I think when you are placed in the MVP conversation, that means that your team is winning games and you’re playing at a level that’s helping them win games,” LeBron said. “So, if my name starts to be in the MVP discussion, then I’m happy about it in the sense that it means the Lakers are winning basketball games. And that’s what I want. That’s all I care about. I know what I bring to the table every night. I know what I’m capable of doing every night, but I want that to result in wins, and that’s just always been my mindset in this league.”
We will have to wait and see how LeBron James will fare as part of the MVP debate. Regardless, he is more focused on winning with the Lakers and that’s what matters in the end.
