Donald Trump is famous for being the most polarizing President in the history of the United States. Trump’s rhetoric even led a mob of his supporters to attempt to forcibly make Congress overturn the 2020 election. The Donald was defeated by Joe Biden in a result that has survived endless court challenges and recounts.

A man was arrested in New York on Monday morning for threatening to kill the former President. Thomas Welnicki of Queens, New York allegedly made the threat in several calls to Secret Service offices and other law enforcement over the past year. Welnicki said he was going to assasinate Donald Trump if he refused to leave office after the 2020 election.

Trump was not identified by name in the court complaint. Documents obtained by CNBC confirmed that a footnote identifies the target as the person who was President from January 2017 through January 2021. That person was Donald Trump.

The criminal complaint outlines the behavior that ultimately led to Thomas Welnicki’s arrest. The would-be killer bragged about how easily he could obtain a firearm. The threats will amount to some serious federal charges.

“During a voluntary interview on or about July 21, 2020, Welnicki told United States Capitol Police that ‘if [Trump] loses the 2020 election and refused to step down,..

I don’t want to hurt anyone, but I will stand up to fascism… I really hope that God takes [Trump] out.”

Thomas Welnicki was set to appear in federal court today. The proceedings will take place in Brooklyn. Donald Trump is gearing up for the launch of his new social media app. The former president is planning rallies to continue his election lie.
