Goldberg is known as one of the true legends of professional wrestling. He even says there’s one match left in the tank. The former WCW and WWE champion is known in the squared circle as a man of few words. When it comes to his alma mater’s football team, Goldberg is quite outspoken.
Goldberg played for the Georgia Bulldogs until he entered the National Football League in 1990. The Los Angeles Rams selected him in the 11th round. When injuries derailed his football career, Goldberg pursued professional wrestling.
Bill Goldberg has always stayed loyal to his school. Goldberg is a massive Bulldogs fan. TMZ Sports caught up with the wrestling star in the wake of Georgia’s national championship victory over the Alabama Crimson Tide. Bill was psyched to see his team win their first title in over 40 years.
“I would say the entire Bulldog Nation is … I don’t wanna say stunned by any stretch of the imagination. But we’re pinching ourselves and finally coming to the realization that the curse is freaking broken and it feels really good.
It’s pretty amazing how the Bulldog nation has just all come together to celebrate. I’ve heard from people I have not heard from in 30 years in the past 24 hours.”
Goldberg is hoping his son Gage, who is a 15-year-old standout on the gridiron, will someday follow his footsteps as a Bulldog. Bill Goldberg knows what its like to win championships. While he never got one in college, the latest crop of Georgia players and fans finally got to share that feeling.
