Kanye West is always engaged in controversy, but he is also shattering all of his professional records one by one. Kanye West and his talents are idolized by many influential rappers. After receiving his first platinum single from Donda, Ye proves again that he is the G.O.A.T.
Kanye West’s illustrious career has spanned more than two decades, and he is constantly raking in the awards. Ye earned his first platinum hit from Donda on Tuesday, January 11 with the help of The Weeknd and Lil Baby assisted “Hurricane.”
The song was initially scheduled for the shelved 2018 Yandhi album as “80 Degrees.” Lil Baby ultimately joined the tune when Kanye referred to him as his favorite rapper, and The Weeknd joined just before Donda’s release in August. “Hurricane” quickly became the album’s biggest song, reaching No. 6 on the Billboard Hot 100
That wasn’t Kanye West’s only certification, as the thundering “Jail” starring JAY-Z became gold on January 11. Outside of the Donda world, Yeezy’s remix of Chief Keef’s “Don’t Like” song was also certified platinum. Other Donda singles, “Off the Grid,” “Moon,” and “Praise God,” all went gold in November, and the album has sold over 500,000 copies, with a platinum plaque presumably on the way.
Kanye’s older albums, The College Dropout and My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, received a boost after re-entering the Billboard 200 this week. Mr. West received his first diamond award in October for his 2007 Graduation hit “Stronger.” Meanwhile, according to Pusha T’s manager and G.O.O.D. Music executive Steven Victor, development on Donda 2 has already begun.
Kanye West has been keeping himself busy so far in 2022. West was spotted in the studio with Moneybagg Yo, The Game, will. i.am, Wack 100, and former NFL great Antonio Brown on Tuesday night. Let’s see if anything is going on between the rappers. Keep an eye on Thirsty for further updates.
