Ed Sheeran is already looking into a comfortable afterlife. It appears the English singer has plans to build his final resting place in his massive estate back in his hometown.

According to DailyMail, Ed has submitted plans to build a burial chamber under the floor of new boat-shaped church that is being erected in the grounds of his vast £3.7 million Suffolk ‘mini-village’ dubbed Sheeranville. The outlet shared photographs which show the place of worship covered in sheets which could soon be joined by the a burial zone which would be entered through a slab in the floor

The 30-year old’s latest plan mean he could be buried in the grounds of his home village of Framlingham if the move gets a greenlight from the council officers. Sheeran’s private place of retreat has been modelled with curved walls on the plan and in elevation, which give it a sweeping boat-shaped feel.

According to the plans the burial chamber would be back of the building. It measures 8.9ft by 5.9ft which around double the size of a standard size grave plot. Sheeran previously failed to get permission for the chapel in his garden but in 2019 he scaled down the plans and resubmitted. They were later approved by his neighbors as well as the parish council

The construction has just started on the new building for contemplation and prayer. It’s situated on the eastern boundary of Ed’s estate. The building  will have a lobby and a nave downstairs, with a spiral staircase to a small gallery, and a main space for activity. The place will also have a lead roof, flint walls and stained glass windows.

The original application said it would be a private place of retreat for his friends and family. It said Sheeran had guests visiting from around the world, who all have different faiths and customs and he wanted to provide a safe space. Fans are surely intrigued by the singer’s latest move.
