Alexia Echevarria made her return to The Real Housewives of Miami with a shocking plot. Alexia discovered that her late-husband Herman, whom she had been married to for the first three seasons of the show, was gay. He also had a gay partner for whom he was providing support. Herman passed away in 2016. All of this was revealed in Season 4 of the show.

Alexia Echevarria has been attacked by a former RHOM costar for disclosing her late husband was gay. Former RHOM star Lea Black, who was friends with Herman, thought Alexia’s affair on national television to be an insult. Lea appeared on the Behind The Velvet Rope With David Yontef podcast and blasted Alexia for her actions.

See, I was close to Alexia’s husband. I was never close to Alexia. And I heard some things that are, if true, I’m going to make a big stand-up and defend Herman … on his behalf, if what I’ve heard is true about things that are been said about him through her on the show,

Alexia was speaking about Herman without giving him the opportunity to defend himself, according to Lea. All these years Herman did nothing but lavish Alexia with luxury. Alexia discovered in season 4 that Herman had been in a serious connection with a man, and she challenged him to learn more about their covert relationship.

There were rumors that Herman was gay in the early seasons of the show, which Alexia constantly refuted. According to Distractify, Herman’s co-stars Joanna Krupa and Karent Sierra accused him of being gay in 2012. Back then however, Alexia was hurt and disgusted when she saw Karent and Joanna trying to stir up nonsense about her relationship of 13 years with her husband.
