Fat Trel has been behind bars for quite some time after a DWI and possession of drugs. He has now asked for a little help from big names to listen to his problems and bail him out.
After spending the past month in jail on charges in connection to a 2018 arrest, Fat Trel took to Instagram on Friday to share an update on his current incarceration. The rapper requested Donald J. Trump, Meek Mill, Kim Kardashian, and others like Jay Z‘s Reform Organization to help him in his plight. This has garnered quite an attention on the social media platform as people came across the post.
“It is with heaviness in my heart that I must inform my fans and supporters that the justice system has failed in being objective in my case. Back in 2016, I was charged with a DWI and possession of marijuana in Virginia. I served time for the incident and was given probation after.
After my 3 year long incarceration by the federal government for gun possession, I was aware I had to face the Virginia court system regarding my probation. I was required to turn myself in prior to the start of the holiday season; after being away from my family for the past 3 years. After a month in Arlington county jail; this morning was my sentencing date. The District Attorney/prosecution of the commonwealth of Virginia supported my request to be released for time served. However, Judge DiMatteo chose to sentence me to a year and a half of backup time.
The justice system needs major reformation. 3 years in federal prison was more than enough time for me to conform my mindset and the way I move. I’m being punished a second time around; without regard of the years I’ve already served.
5 years ago my actions granted me a felony. However; recreational marijuana is now legal in Virginia. I don’t condone the DWI and have learned from my error- yet my livelihood is now in danger from being caught in the justice system.”
The rapper spent three years in prison after being convicted of DWI and marijuana possession from 2016. He also brought up the laws around recreational marijuana that have changed in Virginia since his origin case. Recently he had a hearing in Arlington County jail and was then sentenced to another year and a half incarceration by a judge.
The news arrives three months after the 31-year-old rapper returned home after serving three years for possession of a firearm in 2018. Trel was subsequently arrested in December by the police. He was hit with four counts of Revocation of Suspended Sentence and Probation in connection to another 2018 arrest.
The Instagram post has gotten over 14,000 likes with a number of celebrities supporting his release. We have yet to see any major response from the tagged people on the post but we will be keeping a keen eye on the matter as it goes down.
