Soulja Boy was disappointed last August when he found out his verse from Kanye West’s Donda single, “Remote Control” had been cut out. The rapper took to social media to voice his frustrations. The 31-year old referred to the music legend as a “bitch ass n***a” and later accused Kanye of stealing from him. Recently, he addressed the feud between them.
Ye would later discuss the controversy on Drink Champs in November 2021. He explicitly stated that Soulja Boy’s verse wasn’t up to to par, but the Hip-Hop mogul did text Soulja to right his wrongs. He wrote to Soulja, “Yo It’s Ye. Love you bro. I should have told you I wasn’t gonna use the verse.”
Although, the beef between them was short-lived, it still generated a lot of buzz. During a recent interview of Soulja Boy with HipHopDX, he cleared up his relationship with Kanye and appreciated him for reaching out to him in the first place.
“Aw man. Shoutout to Kanye, man. Know what I’m saying? Kanye out there living life. I see he outside now. He moving around, he doing his thing, man. I got nothing but love for Kanye. You know what I’m saying? At least he kept it real. Kanye is the type of artist where he don’t give a f*ck.”
“He ain’t have to text me and say sh*t, you know what I’m saying? So even for the fact to him to hit me up and be like, ‘Oh bro, woo, woo, woo.’ I’m like, ‘Man, that just speaks … that speaks volumes.’ Kanye came a long way. I f*ck with Kanye. For sure. We good.”
Soulja Boy has come a long way in his career without Kanye’s help. His exclusion from Ye’s Donda track didn’t affect his fame. The rapper first came into the spotlight with his #1 Billboard Hot single “Crank That” in 2007, he was just 19 at the time.
Soulja will be next seen in upcoming REVOLT series The Life of Draco which premieres on Jan. 21. The six-episode documentary-series will revolve around Soulja as he navigates through life, music and entrepreneurship.
