Gunna has been involved in an ongoing feud with fellow rapper Freddie Gibbs. When Gunna released his DS4EVER album on January 7, the third song, “poochie gown,” included a dig at Freddie Gibbs, sparking a feud between the two. Gunna has now received more backing from his label-mate in the matter.
Gunna took offence to Freddie labelling him a snitch because of an old footage of him being shown on a Crime Stoppers television segment. This sparked the entire spat between Gunna and Gibbs. Then, before the film’s release, a video of a fragment of “poochie gown” surfaced, and Gunna doubled down on his contempt for Gibbs, tweeting that the diss would be “the biggest moment of Freddie’s career.”
After the album was out and “poochie gown” was included, Gunna claimed that Freddie Gibbs had approached him about working on a song with him, but Gunna opted to stick to his guns and refused to reconcile.
He tried to do a song with me through my manager. It’s like, ‘Huh? Wait, what?’ t was a long, long, long time ago, maybe years ago, and he thought I forgot. I just don’t forget. If I got a problem with you from five years ago, it’s still [a problem]. It don’t change. It can be ten years later. I’m gon’ get you.
Gunna’s Young Stoner Life mentor Young Thug has now rapped in an Instagram story today, Jan. 16, endorsing Gunna’s side of the beef. It seems like Thug and Gunna both “can’t f**k with Freddie Gibbs.”
Hang abovе the rim / I can’t f**k with Freddie Gibbs (No) / N****s tellin’ fibs (Fibs) / Rich kids try to get next to me, you know your chances slim.
Freddie appeared to respond on Twitter in a now-deleted tweet in which he chastised Young Thug for his dress sense: “All the girls that like me wear dresses. This ain’t nothin’.”
The rap world is filled with feuds that constantly come and go. Even Kanye West and Drake recently squashed their beef. Gunna says it will never happen, but times and feelings can change.
