The 2022 Grammy Awards ceremony was originally set to take place at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on the 31st of January. Unfortunately, due to the COVID-19 omicron variant surge, those plans had to be scrapped.
The show, however, must go on. In the spirit of that statement, the Grammy Awards ceremony now has a new venue and date, as per an announcement made earlier today.
As per Complex, the ceremony will now be taking place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, on the 3rd of April. The venue was previously used to host the Latin Grammys a few months ago.
The organizers have settled for the 17,000 seat arena, a step down from the previous venue’s capacity of 20,000, although that’s probably for the best. The ceremony will be primarily hosted by comedian Trevor Noah.
This isn’t the first time that the ceremony has faced COVID-related obstacles, as it had to be postponed in 2021 as well. Here’s hoping that the award show goes without a hitch.
