Sidney Poitier, the great actor and the first black man to receive an Academy Award for Best Actor, passed away on 6th January 2022. He was 94 years old. Recently Sidney’s death certificate has released.
According to his death certificate, Sidney Poitier died of a combination of heart failure, Alzheimer’s dementia, and prostate cancer. The 94-year-old Hollywood legend died at home in Beverly Hills, according to the papers acquired by TMZ.
Sidney’s occupation as an actor is listed on the certificate. Sidney had a whopping 76 years of experience in the field. As the fans know, Poitier was the first Black man in Hollywood to win an Academy Award for Best Actor, ushering in a new era in how Black people are portrayed on the big screen.
In the 1960s, he had a number of ground-breaking parts, including three films that were all released in 1967 “To Sir, With Love,” “In the Heat of the Night” and “Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner.”
Hundreds of celebrities paid tribute to him after his death, but one of the most moving was written by his daughter, Sydney Poitier.
“My grief is because I lost my dad, but it is also because the world lost so much goodness.”
We are heartbroken to learn about the reason for death. The news that their star had died devastated the hearts of the whole film industry. Legend, may you rest in peace.
