Joe Haden just wrapped up his career as a Pittsburgh Steeler. The three-time Pro Bowl selection at cornerback will be one of the NFL’s most sought after defensive free agents this offseason. Haden doesn’t have a big payday on his mind, though.

The National Football League had a rash of players arrested for driving under the influence during the course of this season. One of the incidents, involving Raiders wide receiver Henry Ruggs, turned fatal. Several players were arrested for driving drunk.

Haden took to Twitter with a dire warning to his NFL brothers. Joe reminded the entire league that one night can change everything. Joe Haden encouraged NFL players to get a ride if they’ve been drinking too much.

“To my Nfl players just getting into off-season… please be smart…. Get a driver or car service! One night can change your life”

Alsdon Smith was arrested for DUI in December. Seahawks QB Geno Smith followed shortly after. The Dallas Cowboys also had issues with a player getting behind the wheel while intoxicated.

Joe Haden’s advice should extend to everybody. Drunk driving has cost several NFL players their careers, their lives, and their freedom. Everyone should follow Joe’s advice: Don’t drink and drive.
