Hip-hop will usher in its 50th anniversary in the year 2023. Hip-hop’s current success and influence are the result of five decades of significant history. Of course, because there are so many to select from, whether it’s the best beat of all time or the best verse, pinpointing a single greatest moment in culture is exceedingly difficult.
Jay-Z receives flowers from Fat Joe for having the “hardest lyric in hip-hop.” During a recent appearance on the I Am Athlete podcast, Fat Joe revealed what he considers to be Jay-hardest Z’s lyric in hip-hop history. Joe mentioned that a particular Hov lyric from Reasonable Doubt had stayed with him approximately 26 years after it was released.
The hardest lyric in Hip Hop is on JAY-Z’s first album when he said, ‘Something something and we will be each other’s crutches. If every n**** in your clique is rich, your clique is rugged/Nobody will fall ’cause everyone will be each other’s crutches.
The point is this: everybody wants to be the guy, everybody wants to be the guy that everyone looks up to. There’s no strength is that. The strength is everybody eating so if one of us falls, we can lift them up and put them back in the game. You have to understand that mentality.
The bar is relatable to Joe since it relates to any group of buddies, regardless of whether they are barbers or mechanics. That is actual power, the power of the people. Nothing is more powerful than the power of the people. Check out the clip below.
