The Weeknd’s latest album Dawn FM continues its global domination. The album just set a new record on the Billboard Global 200 chart. The Weekend should be used to picking up W’s at this point.
According to Billboard, his latest project impressed fans across the world. After a disappointing debut, it is finally getting some international shine. He topped the charts in the U.K, Australia, Ireland, Sweden, Switzerland, and Canada.
There is some thought that Weeknd might have fudged the numbers. But still the hip-hop star now has the most entries in a single week for a solo male performer, charting 24 songs on the Global 200 chart. The tracks included on the Global 200 include “Sacrifice”, “Take My Breath”, “Gasoline”, “Out of Time”, “Is There Someone Else?”, “How Do I Make You Love Me?”, and “Save Your Tears”.
Dawn FM continues to top charts worldwide despite no physical product being available. The album debuted #1 Apple Music US and in 125 countries as well as No.1 Spotify US & Globally. Its cumulative streams have surpassed over 500 million to date.
The only other artist to have more Global 200 entries in a single week is Taylor Swift with 31 songs. Both Kanye and Drake trail behind with 23 and 22, respectively. The Weeknd may have another shot at securing a #1 spot with his upcoming vinyl and CD release.
