WWE fans and gamers everywhere have been scouring the internet for details on the upcoming release of WWE 2K22. It’s been a couple years since the last WWE release. Poor reception and a load of bugs caused the WWE Games and 2K teams to put a pause on the franchise and work on improvements. Information to this point has been scant.
Cover art featuring WWE legend Rey Mysterio was released earlier this week. News broke that the game will feature special Undertaker bonus content. A huge announcement was then teased by WWE Games.
Today, the @WWEonFox Twitter account announced a release date and several features for the highly anticipated WWE 2K22. The gameplay has been re-designed. Players will be able to share their create-a-wrestler creations across platforms. New game modes like MyGM will also be included.
The tweet announced March 11th as the release date. More info came from the official @WWEGames account. Popular streamer TimTheTatMan visited WWE games in a video where several WWE superstars acted like they were producing the game.
Footage showed Bianca Belair, Roman Reigns, and Drew McIntyre taking part in the game creation process. The Undertaker made an appearance towards the end as fresh gameplay, a redesigned engine, and more were hyped by on-screen text. The Undertaker content was then pushed as a pre-order bonus.
2K has had a difficult relationship with WWE through the years. This could be their last chance to get it right. Fans have very little faith left in the WWE 2K series. An improved game could go a long way to keep the WWE – 2K relationship going.
