XXXTENTACION is a legend who will live on in the hearts of his fans. Since his death in 2018, his team and family have made several efforts to keep his memory and legacy alive. The estate of XXXTENTACION has chosen to release the SoundCloud classic “Vice City” via streaming platforms on Friday.
His family and crew have issued a number of posthumous albums, granting permission for other musicians to utilize his features. X’s estate has also begun working on a documentary on the late hip-hop legend.
On Jan. 23, X’s 24th birthday, his estate issued a statement in honor of the occasion. Along with confirming the documentary’s production, they’ve launched a website and Twitter account called MakeOutHill to keep fans up to speed on XXXTENTACION news and updates.
To top it all off, X’s estate has announced that his 2014 fan-favorite song “vice city” will be made available on streaming platforms on Friday, January 28. “Vice City,” inspired by the Grand Theft Auto video game series, was X’s debut SoundCloud release and presently has over 64 million listens.
They added that this release will be part of their attempts to ultimately make all of his unofficial releases available on streaming platforms.
“It is important to us to continue to honor Jah’s legacy, and in that spirit we are planning an exciting 2022. One of our first initiatives is to get as much of X’s music from his earliest days as an artist up on all DSPs. We have been working diligently to clear as much of it as possible, and we are excited to announce our first release this Friday with “vice city” hitting all streaming services for the first time. We will continue to release music as we clear it, and are making sure we do it in a way that stays true to how X released each song originally.”
This announcement was backed by a teaser for MakeOutHill, which has old videos of X performing as well as audio of other rappers like Trippie Redd, Juice WRLD, and Joey Bada$$ discussing X’s influence. To get the latest updates, Keep an eye on Thirsty.
