Sean Payton has been one of the top coaches in the NFL over the last few years, and when coupled with Drew Brees, he was even able to win a Super Bowl. The Saints have remained competitive since then, though it’s evident that things are likely to deteriorate. Next season, the Saints will be $74 million over the salary cap, and no one is especially enthusiastic about the roster.
Having said that, there have been a number of headlines in recent days concerning Payton’s loyalty to the Saints and whether or not he would want to stay with them, especially given the scenario. Payton made his decision today as he stepped down as a coach.

Payton will now leave the Saints, according to Ian Rapoport, and it is rumored that he will not return to coach anyone. Of course, the renowned coach could change his mind at any time, but for the time being, he is done.
