Baker Mayfield struggled this year as the Cleveland Browns failed to reach the NFL Playoffs. Fans in Cleveland even started sending the quarterback death threats after they were eliminated. The criticism has come from all angles.

Baker started 14 games for the Browns this season. Mayfield finished with a completion percentage of 60.53 and threw only 17 touchdowns against 13 interceptions. Cleveland fanatics quickly became impatient, even after the QB said he was playing hurt.

The harassment and trolling finally caused Baker Mayfield to hit a breaking point. Mayfield posted a note on his Instagram Story recently that noted he was taking a break from social media. Family and personal growth will become the focus.

“Getting off all social media for the foreseeable future.

Gotta do what’s best to focus on me, my family and loved ones. Appreciate all the support. Time to get right.

Mayfield recently posted a tweet about the toxicity of social media. Baker believes it’s time to start reigning in his inner circle and keeping a tighter list of friends and loved ones. There’s nothing wrong with that.

Fans in Cleveland are getting antsy about the future of the Browns at quarterback. If Mayfield is able to take some time to himself to heal and get back to his old self, there could be a shot at redemption. We’ll see if the franchise has enough patience to see the process through.
