Britney Spears was finally free from her 13-year conservatorship a couple of months ago, after a longstanding battle to fight for her rights. After she was free, many fans wondered what is next in store for her. It was previously reported that she has no interviews planned with Oprah or anyone else for that matter.
According to TMZ, Britney Spears’ father Jamie Spears wants her to sit for a wide-ranging deposition as revealed by his lawyer who sent an email to Britney’s attorney asking to set a date for a deposition.
Jamie Spears’ lawyer, Alex Weingarten, sent the email on Wednesday to Britney’s lawyer, Mathew Rosengart. Weingarten informed Rosengart about setting up a date for the deposition.
“We write to advise that we intend to depose your client and would like to discuss a mutually agreeable date to conduct the deposition.
Of course, we will also discuss scheduling Mr. Spears’ deposition with you and work with you to find a mutually agreeable date for that to proceed as well.”
The email further stated that Weingarten would agree to have Jamie deposed first, which would then be followed by Britney Spears’ deposition. This would happen either the next day or the same week.
Various issues will be included in the deposition including all of the accusations Britney Spears made against her father during her hearing back in June of last year. It was also said they want to ask Britney about “child safety and [possible] drug use,” among other issues.
The email proposes a “meet and confer” to set the dates and the ground rules for the deposition and ended with, ”If we have not heard from you regarding these matters by the close of business on Friday, February 4, 2022, we will proceed unilaterally.” This likely means that Weingarten will get a subpoena.
