Kanye West is one of the most influential people in the industry. Wherever he goes, people rush to open the gates for him. However, even he has to obey certain rules. The pop star has been told he will be barred from entering Australia due to his vaccination status.
News.com.au reported, the rapper plans to perform in several stadium shows to promote his Donda album in the country in March. However, as he revealed on Drink Champs in Nov. 2021, he only received his first shot. Under Australian law, anyone entering the country must be fully vaccinated against the virus.
On Saturday, Jan. 29, Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison spoke at press conference. During the press conference, he seemingly referenced the incident with Novak Djokovic and insisted celebrities are not exempt from following the country’s strict Covid protocols.
‘The rules are you have to be fully vaccinated,’ he said. ‘Those are the rules. They apply to everybody, as people have seen most recently.
‘It doesn’t matter who you are, they are the rules. Follow the rules, you can come. You don’t follow the rules, you can’t.’
Novak was deported from Melbourne on the eve of Australian Open two weeks ago. The Serbian went through an 11-day legal battle with the government before being deported.
Meanwhile, the Grammy award winning artist confirmed earlier this week that he plans to drop the album on February 22,2022 and that it will be executive produced by Future. However, we urge fans not to get too excited as he’s known to delay his albums beyond their initial release date.
