WWE Hall of Famer and current Hollywood star Dave Bautista is a sought after actor in the business. Batista made a name for himself by portraying the role of Drax the Destroyer in Marvel’s Guardians Of The Galaxy film franchise. Batista always wanted a movie based on his character but it never came to fruition, which Marvel didn’t really find any need in, much to Batista’s dismay.
Bautista previously revealed that he was completely broke before nabbing the role of Drax in Marvel’s Guardians Of The Galaxy film franchise, as he had issues with tax.
Bautista starred in ‘Dune’ as he portrayed the role of Glossu Rabban. He also previously made it clear that this role held a lot of significance for him. Batista stated that it validated his decision to leave pro wrestling.
While speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, M. Night Shyamalan explained why he cast Bautista as the lead in his next movie, Knock at the Cabin. It had to do with his performance in Blade Runner 2049.
“I was really taken by what Denis [Villeneuve] and Dave [Bautista] did in that scene in Blade Runner [2049]. He was still in a way that was powerful. There’s a type of stillness where you’re not doing nothing; you’re doing everything and you’re still. Every cell in your body will do what it’s supposed to do if you’re thinking something correctly. And Dave was embodying all of this philosophy in that scene…I didn’t know who he was at that time, and he stuck in my head. So when this script came, I was like, ‘There seems to be one guy who can play this giant human being and do the stillness.”
Knock on the Cabin is also slated to release in 2023. Dave Bautista’s acting career is certainly flourishing as he previously made it clear he wants to portray a variety of roles in his career. We will have to wait and see what is next in store for Bautista.
