Netflix recently suffered a significant loss. Overnight, the company’s value dropped by $50 billion. One of Netflix’s shows, All Of Us Are Dead, topped the list of the most-watched shows in the world.
According to FlixPatrol data, the show has topped the streaming platform’s charts in over 25 countries since its January 28 premiere, including South Korea, Thailand, and Singapore. Notably, it is the third Korean series to do so, following the success of Squid Game and Hellbound.
Lee Jae-Gyu, the director of All Of Us Are Dead, recently spoke with EDaily Korea about his surprise at the show’s global success. “I truly can’t believe all the love it has received from so many countries around the world,” the director said, as translated by Soompi.
“I think this will come as a great relief to all the actors and staff who devoted themselves to this project for two years.”
Based on Joo Dong-webtoon geun’s Now At Our School, All Of Us Are Dead follows a group of high school students who become trapped on campus as a zombie apocalypse spreads like wildfire. It stars a number of well-known actors, including Park Ji-hoo from House of Hummingbirds and Yoon Chan-young from Doctor John.
NME’s Carmen Chin described the new K-zombie drama as a grisly series “that bites off more than it can chew” in a three-star review of the Netflix thriller. In other K-drama news, Wi Ha-Joon of Squid Game is set to join the cast of the upcoming TVN K-drama Little Women, alongside Kim Go-Eun (Yumi’s Cells), Nam Ji-Hyun (The Witch’s Diner), and Park Ji-hu (All Of Us Are Dead).
Wi will play consultant Choi Do-il, a charismatic, analytical man who crosses paths with the incident’s eldest sister Oh In-Joo (played by Kim). Another great Kdrama followed in the footsteps of Squid Game’s iconic success. To get the latest updates, keep an eye on Thirsty.
