Anthony Davis has been a bright spot for the struggling Los Angeles Lakers this season. The big man is averaging 23.4 points per game to go with 9.7 rebounds and 2.2 blocks. Those are solid numbers by any standard.

LeBron and the Lakers have had a difficult time finding chemistry this year. Anthony Davis missed some time with a knee injury. COVID has not helped as the team continues to sputter each time it appears they’ve hit their stride.

Due to their struggles on the court, LeBron James will be the only Laker headed to this year’s NBA All-Star Game in Cleveland. AD was likely deserving, but he’s missed some time this season due to the injury. Davis spoke about the snub after his team lost to the L.A. Clippers on Thursday night.

“I mean I kind of figured I wasn’t just because of the amount of games I’ve missed. It’s the first time in my career where I don’t have to go to the All-Star game. I know my wife is ecstatic. We don’t have to be an All-Star and be somewhere else. Congrats to all those guys.”

It sounds like Anthony Davis is fine with not having to take a trip to Cleveland. Davis was gracious towards those who got the nod over him. It’s been a long season. Some additional time off the road can only benefit Davis’ knee.

LeBron James will be heading to the All-Star weekend alone. Anthony Davis will take the time to enjoy his wife’s company and continue to rest. We’ll see if the Lakers can get back on track after the break.
