Amber Portwood is getting ready to release her new tell-all memoir. The Teen Mom star has been working on it for quite some time. Fans have been looking forward to some insight into the controversial reality star’s private life.

Portwood is giving that out in spades. The Sun recently put out an exclusive first look at “So, You’re Crazy Too” that revealed some deep personal secrets. The book will be released on February 22, but what’s already been released is pretty heavy.

Amber talks openly about her struggles with mental illness. Portwood told the story of a suicide attempt when she was just 11 years old. Amber tried to hang herself.

“I tried to kill myself when I was eleven years old. The truth is, I don’t know why I did it; I was probably too young to know. I woke up on the floor. I don’t know how much time had passed, but I was in terrible pain. My side and neck were hurting very badly. I just felt like I didn’t want to live anymore.

As I look back now, it is clear I was already suffering from mental illness. At the time, it just felt like heaviness and, as a small child without the wisdom of age and desperately looking for a solution to the problem, hanging myself seemed like the only way out. I just wanted the pain to end.”

Amber has asked her publisher to place a warning label on the biography. It’s easy to understand why. Portwood got into some extremely sensitive subjects.

Teen Mom fans will have to wait a while longer before they get their hands on her new book. Readers with sensitivities to this kind of subject matter should be warned. Amber Portwood pulled no punches in the telling of her life story.
