It’s been a long time since Wendy Williams has taken the helm of her hit show. In her wake of absence the show has lost it’s former glory. Staffers at “The Wendy Williams Show” blame the show’s “out of touch” top brass for the show’s poor performance.

According to Page Six, mid- and low-level producers of the show are miserable. Staffers claim that the top execs are alienating the audience with their experimentation with hosts like Michael Rapaport, Leah Remini and Whitney Cummings.

An insider of the show told the outlet, “They’re not factoring in the culture. The all-white management is out of touch with the demographic, which skews mostly African American.” While other sources told the outlet, staffers are annoyed with Rapaport, who has been a total rating bust.

It’d be false to say the war on Wendy is all about race. Several insiders of the game pointed out the show’s robust roster of black guest hosts. Stars such as  Sherri Shepherd, Remy Ma, Bevy Smith and Terrence J. are all slated to host this month. The staffers claim Wendy’s daytime gossip show becomes an entirely different show when Remini takes the host’s seat.

An insider told the outlet, Remini refuses to do live shows and dish about other celebs because “she’s the star,” While another source said, “Everyone knows people tune into Wendy for hot topics, but [Remini] refuses to talk about celebs,” A third insider said, Debmar-Mercury, who produces Williams’ show, is testing Remini out for her own, “so it becomes the Leah Remini test show,”

Meanwhile, Wendy made her last appearance at the show in July 2021. The show’s execs have yet to provide a concrete date of return for the star. However, an insider told Page Six, “It’s her show, so whenever she’s ready to come back, she’ll be back.”

We will have to see how things pan out in this situation, but Wendy Williams’ hiatus is certainly priority, because she was going through a lot at the time.
