Bob Saget passed away tragically at the age of 65. On “Full House” and “Fuller House,” Bob played Hallmark star Candace Cameron Bure’s father. He was discovered unresponsive in a Ritz-Carlton Orlando hotel room.
In an interview with Hoda Kotb on “Today,” Bure claimed that her theological differences with Bob Saget really helped the two of them become closer. According to Yahoo! Life, Bure admitted in her interview on “Today” that their political and religious convictions diverged greatly, but that this helped them get closer.
If people see Bob’s standup, it’s not family friendly standup. So there would always be a question, like, how can you guys be friends? And its like, well, I grew up with Bob so I understand his sense of humor. I too have a sense of humor. But I can also separate that person that’s on the stage making jokes to get the laugh, and the real heart behind a person and their love and their friendship and their kindness.
She admitted that Saget’s stand-up comedy was not suitable for children, but she could appreciate his wit and the true heart behind the person. Saget would occasionally invite Bure to stand-up shows, but would then caution her that she shouldn’t go.
She went on to say that Saget was the type of person who would drop everything to support a friend. Bure is a devout Christian, while Saget was a devout Jew. Saget was proud to be Jewish, according to the Southern England Jewish Ledger. He went to Temple Israel, a Hebrew school in Norfolk, and studied film at Temple University.
In 2021, he took part in a “Purim Spiel,” a comedic rendition of the Purim narrative, according to Jewish Ledger. After people were killed in Afghanistan in August 2021, Bure expressed her heartbreak and then spoke about her faith, which she stated provides her strength.
