Nipsey Hussle tragically lost his life back in March of 2019 after he was fatally shot outside his store Marathon Clothing in South Los Angeles. His alleged killer, Eric R. Holder was arrested and charged with murder in April of that year.
For the late Nipsey Hussle, the marathon is still on. This year, his family plans to open “The Marathon Clothing Store No. 2” in Los Angeles. Blacc Sam, Nip’s older brother, revealed that the family had purchased a commercial property in Los Angeles’ Melrose arts neighborhood, where the new store will be placed.
This second location is a dream that Nipsey always had, and it’s important that his kids are able to see his plans fulfilled.
Fans can still visit and pay respect to Hussle at the original store on Crenshaw Boulevard and Slauson Avenue while the new shop is being rebuilt. The store is still closed, but the adjoining commercial lot will be turned into a community center that will give free music lessons to children.
Sam also wants to convert the old store into a youth center, revive Steve’s Barber Shop, and establish a public memorial to Nip. The Marathon clothing store first opened its doors in 2017.
Hussle was shot and slain outside of the store not long after buying it from the previous landlord. Despite the fact that the shop was shuttered after his death, his family received unending support from the internet shop.
Last year, the LAPD conducted a targeted clandestine surveillance program at the original business. Since 2016, the LAPD has identified Hussle’s clothes store as a venue for potential gang-related activity, according to unearthed papers.
The whole scope of the operation’s targeting of his family and business is unknown, but documents reveal cops went to great lengths. Hussle’s loss is still being felt throughout the Hip-Hop world.
