Aretha Franklin’s Family Disappointed After Huge Oscar Snub

The nominees for the 2022 Oscar Awards were announced recently and as is always the case with every year, not everyone is happy with the list of nominees. Many fans feel The Oscars simply do not nominate those that truly deserve it and it happened once again this year.

According to TMZ, Aretha Franklin’s family is very disappointed that Jennifer Hudson did not get an Oscar nomination for her role in Franklin’s biopic. Aretha’s niece, Sabrina Owens stated that Jennifer Hudson did a great job in the biopic and her aunt would have loved it as well.

The biopic titled Respect was said to be Aretha Franklin’s baby while she was alive. She was said to be very involved and even chose Jennifer Hudson for the role. Sabria stated that her aunt was a perfectionist and would have loved to see Hudson getting an Oscar nomination for her role.

Brenda Franklin Corbit, Aretha’s first cousin also added that she is devasted Jennifer Hudson wasn’t nominated. She said that the Academy made a huge mistake as she felt Hudson poured her heart and soul into the role and did an amazing job.

Brenda hoped Jennifer knows the Franklin family is proud of what she has done. Hudson being snubbed is just one of many, as fans were infuriated Lady Gaga wasn’t nominated for her role in House Of Gucci, among others. The Oscars will be held on March 27th and it is certain fans won’t be happy regardless of who wins big.
