Russell Westbrook hasn’t exactly been in the good graces of Los Angeles Lakers head coach Frank Vogel. The team as well as Russ have been a disaster all season. LeBron James has become frustrated with a lack of team chemistry. Westbrook doesn’t like the way Vogel is handling his playing time.
Westbrook has been riding the pine during the ends of games recently. It started when he sat for the last five minutes for the Knicks. Russ was then once again forced to sit out the end of a game with the Milwaukee Bucks.
Russell expressed his frustration with the coaching staff’s decision-making. Westbrook believes he should be a closer. Vogel obviously feels differently. Vogel fired back and said it’s about the team, not individuals, according to Lakers Nation.
“The needs of the team always comes first…We have to be willing to do whatever it takes to get the Lakers a win.”
It might not be a coincidence that today marks the NBA trade deadline. Vogel was also recently asked if there was any chance the team could move Russell Westbrook. The Lakers coach said if it improves the team, they will make any move that makes sense.
We’ll know whether Russell Westbrook will have to continue to co-exist with Frank Vogel by 3 PM eastern today. The NBA trade deadline always brings a lot of speculation and excitement. Russell Westbrook might get a new head coach and the Lakers could have a new look by this afternoon.
