Bob Saget’s tragic death left an entire nation in mourning. Saget was a beloved television father and an incredibly talented comedian. Bob unexpectedly passed away recently, setting off a million tributes and homages across the entire internet.
It was recently revealed that the cause of Bob Saget’s death was blunt force trauma that caused a brain bleed. While it sounds like Bob would have had to hit his head extremely hard to cause such an injury, it isn’t. Depending on the circumstances, Saget’s death could’ve been avoidable.
The New York Post recently spoke to Dr. Neha Dangayach, director of Neuroemergencies Management and Transfers for Mount Sinai Health System. The doctor said that in some adults, even a tiny bump to the head could cause a brain bleed.
Dangayach said that sometimes, a brain hemorrhage can present without excruciating symptoms or very few at all. People who suffer headaches might not even notice. That means a very slight bump could’ve been the cause of Saget’s passing.
“Trivial trauma,” such as a light bump off of the headboard while you’re sleeping, could cause such a bleed. It is entirely possible that if Bob Saget had arranged his pillows differently, he could be alive today. Such fluke accidents are not uncommon and often go unnoticed, according to the doctor.
Dr. Dangayach urged anyone who is experiencing headaches to seek treatment. While it is not likely that you’re suffering a brain bleed, there are effective ways to manage headaches. There is also a slim chance that it could be a matter of life or death.
