Evan McPherson might have to make the kick of his life today. The Cincinnati Bengals are set to take on the Los Angeles Rams in Super Bowl LVI. One field goal could be the difference between going home a loser and NFL immortality.
Cincinnati’s star kicker isn’t too worried about things. Many Bengals players have taken a relaxed approach to the big game. Defensive end Sam Hubbard has been loose, joking that the team is playing for the honor of Harambe.
McPherson is just hoping to get a look at the star-studded halftime show. Evan talked to TMZ Sports on the eve of the Super Bowl, where he said he will be bummed if he misses the performances of Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre, Eminem, Kendrick Lamar, and Mary J. Blige. The special teams standout hopes to at least catch a peak.
“I’ll be super bummed if we can’t at least watch it on a TV or something.
“I hope I get to watch it. I hope I get to be out there to experience it.”
Evan has kicked five game-winners for the Bengals this season already. McPherson is 12/12 in the playoffs. There is no doubt in his mind he can get the job done.
Super Bowls are famous for firey halftime speeches from head coaches trying to motivate their team to win it all. If Evan McPherson had any choice in the matter, he’d skip it altogether. Evan just wants to watch the halftime show.
