Dustin Poirier is certainly one of the top stars in the UFC, especially after his wins over Conor McGregor. Last year, Dustin Poirier and Nate Diaz have been at each other’s throats after Poirier called him out for a fight. It seems Poirier also reacted to Nate Diaz’s recent claim.
Dustin Poirier previously claimed that he agreed to a fight with Nate Diaz on short notice. Nate Diaz then stated that the UFC themselves doesn’t want him to square off against Dustin Poirier.
Recently, Nate Diaz claimed that he will end his career in the UFC after getting to fight Dustin Poirier. While speaking during the UFC 271 press conference, Dustin Poirier refused to believe that Nate Diaz will retire after fighting him.
“I don’t believe that. Nate, he’s got that dog in him. He’s going to fight forever. We’ll see what happens but I believe he has a lot of fight left in him, you know. But [there’s] no telling what his plans are and his exit game or whatever’s going on but want the fight and I think he wants it as well.”
Dana White also previously stated that Nate Diaz vs Dustin Poirier will happen soon enough. The two were set to square off against each other at UFC 230 in a lightweight fight, but Dustin Poirier had to pull from the fight due to injury and they never competed against each other. We will have to wait and see if the two finally get to have their fight eventually as the two certainly have a lot of beef.
