Israel Adesanya’s meteoric rise up the ranks of UFC’s Middleweight Division cannot be disputed. The “StyleBender” carries a unique combination of fighting skills and charisma every time he’s in the octagon.
Adesanya successfully defended his title against Robert Whittaker in the main event of UFC 271. The mma bout was billed as Adesanya vs Whittaker 2. It took place at the Toyota Center Saturday (Feb. 12).
At the post-fight presser, Adesanya was about to answer a question when he noticed WWE Hall of Famer Booker T sitting in the room. He confirmed the wrestling legend’s presence by asking, “Is that Booker T?”
When told in affirmation, the UFC Middleweight Champion said the iconic catchphrase wrestling fans are all too familiar with. “Five time, five time, five time, five time, five time UFC f**king champion,” he yelled enthusiastically.
“And I was like, ‘Is that Booker T? What the f**k! Holy Sh*t!’ Sorry just being a fan (laughs). The f**k is… (laughs again). O Sh*t! My man, respect to you bro,” he said while holding the peace sign.
It seems that the UFC champion was caught off guard by the presence of Mr. Five Time himself. The two also shared a brief moment when Booker T approached Adesanya to congratulate him for his win over Whittake.
