The West Coast was rocked by Super Bowl on Sunday. Not just because of the L.A. Rams’ victory, but also because of the halftime concert, which featured hip-hop’s Avengers. Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Kendrick Lamar, Mary J. Blige, and Eminem performed at the halftime show, putting hip-hop in the spotlight on one of America’s biggest stages.
Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg opened the show with a performance of “The Next Episode,” followed by a surprise appearance by 50 Cent. Given the Super Bowl’s business orientation, it appeared that there might be some limitations, particularly in terms of attire.
Snoop Dogg, on the other hand, looked like Super Crip in an all-blue paisley matching set with yellow accents that matched the Rams’ team colors. While it was a subtle allusion to the Rolling 20s set, which he has claimed since his days as a teenager in Long Beach, CA, the rapper went one step further during the set.
He threw up the C’s with his hands after his line on “The Next Episode” before Crip Walking across the stage with ease. Furthermore, the choreographer used the dance move in their routine.
Middle America was probably under the assumption that Martha Stewart’s BFFL was grooving, but Californians and hip-hop enthusiasts all over the world dubbed those moments “highlights” of the event. Check out some of the fan reactions below.
