Alec Baldwin faced a lot criticism for the Rust shooting incident. Earlier, it was reported that Baldwin is going back to work four months after the tragic incident took place at the set of his western film. It seems like Alec Baldwin’s troubles are far from over.
Baldwin said he would start 2022 without negativity. He was reportedly working on an undisclosed project. However, he is now a defendant in a wrongful death lawsuit filed by the family of Halyna Hutchins.
According to TMZ, Lawyers on the Hutchin’s family’s lawsuit list what they say are the lapses in safety on the “Rust” set. The lapses they claim led to the cinematographer’s death. The suit also claims other shortcomings, like the crew failing to treat the gun as if it were loaded.
The lawsuit also goes into detail about Baldwin role. It claims he was only 4 feet from members of the crew and reached across his body and used his right hand to grab the revolver holstered on his left side, drew the revolver with a cross draw movement and aimed it directly at Hutchins while drawing back the hammer. It also points out that Baldwin never checked the gun himself for ammo before using it.
Its not just Alec Baldwin who is being sued. The armorer, Hannah Gutierrez-Reed and the assistant director, David Halls, are also being sued along with the various production companies. The company that provided the ammunition is also a defendant.
