The LA Lakers’ season has been plagued with consistent injuries to big players. The injury curse continued after Anthony Davis was struck by an ankle issue. Now his teammate, LeBron James, is cheering for him to get better soon.
Anthony Davis is expected to be sidelined for at least two weeks after suffering a right ankle sprain in the first half of the Lakers vs Jazz. Lakers won the game 106-101 but the win was overshadowed by AD’s injury. Davis underwent X-rays at Crypto.com Arena and fortunately, that revealed there was no fracture.
During a press conference for the media, LeBron James opened up about his feelings after Davis was sidelined. He sympathized with Davis as he himself was out for most of this season due to relentless injuries. Davis looked very promising as he had 17 points in 17 minutes when he was injured.
“Obviously it’s sickening to see AD go down in that fashion. I hope he’s fine. Obviously, I mean, I know he’s not like, great, but obviously his health is most important for him individually, for our ballclub. I’ve seen [teammates get injured] too many times, obviously. So I just wish him the best.”
Anthony Davis grimaced in pain all the way to the tunnel where he was eventually carried to the locker room by DeAndre Jordan and Dwight Howard. The rest of Davis’ teammates looked crestfallen and deflated, recognizing another unfortunate moment in a season. James, however, led the way in the electrifying comeback win against the Jazz by scoring 15 of his 33 points in the fourth quarter.
The Lake Show trailed 92-80 midway through the fourth quarter before it went on a 19-4 run to snap a three-game losing streak. James had the last 10 points during the rally. It included a thunderous dunk off an assist by Russell Westbrook to put the Lakers on top 96-94 with 2:08 remaining.
Davis could only miss 2-3 games, although it’s uncertain how long it will take him to rebound from such an injury. The team sits the No. 9 spot in the Western Conference and they have to win almost all of the next games to even make it to the playoffs.
