Donda 2, in its entirety, is just around the corner; now Kanye West has provided an update on his highly anticipated project. Donda 2 will be released in its entirety on February 22nd, however not everyone will be able to stream the album.
Artists have been whining for years about how little money they make from streaming services, and it appears that West is taking matters into his own hands. Fans will only be able to listen to Donda 2 on his Stem Player, the Rap legend announced this evening.
Donda 2 will only be available on my own platform, the Stem Player. Not on Apple Amazon Spotify or YouTube. Today artists get just 12% of the money the industry makes. It’s time to free music from this oppressive system. It’s time to take control and build our own. Go to stemplayer.com now to order.
Because no streaming service will host Ye’s anticipated album, fans will have to buy his $200 Stem Player to hear it. While the reveal came with a sneak peek at Donda 2, not everyone was pleased with the news, which surprised the public and sparked a wide-ranging debate.
Many people said they wouldn’t buy the $200 Stem Player and slammed West, but his devoted supporters didn’t seem to mind, reasoning that he has the right to release his music whatever he wants. Take a look at the announcement and some of the reactions below.
