Young Dolph was murdered in November 2021, and it appears authorities have made a major blunder regarding the late rapper’s ongoing case. Out of three suspects from Young Dolph’s murder case, one is missing after he was released in January from an Indiana jail.
According to CBS affiliate WREG, authorities issued an arrest warrant for Shondale Barnett, 28. He was initially arrested on Jan. 11 and was supposed to be extradited to Memphis but was released on Jan. 21 from custody. The warrant arrived after law enforcement couldn’t confirm his location after his release.
Justin Johnson, aka Straight Drop, was another suspect who was arrested alongside Barnett, and both were supposed to be handed over to Memphis to face murder charges. Clay County Sheriff Paul Harden confirmed Barnett’s current wanted status in a press conference on Thursday.
“On Jan. 11, Mr. Shundale Barnett was brought to the Clay County Jail by the Indiana State Police from an arrest on I-70. He was booked in the Clay County Jail on an outstanding warrant from Shelby County, Tennessee,”
“We contacted Shelby County and held him on their warrant,”
“And we were contacted on Jan. 21 and they told us that they were no longer wanting to come and pick up Mr. Barnett and that we were to release him at that time.”
When asked Shelby County District Attorney General Amy Weirich why Barnett was released in the first place, she insisted she cannot disclose any further information as it’s a “pending case”.
