This season has not gone as planned for the Los Angeles Lakers. They are four games under .500. Despite a number of high-profile players, their team has yet to gel. Russell Westbrook has been a huge letdown. Their time with their biggest star may be coming to an end.
During NBA All-Star Weekend, LeBron James spoke with The Athletic‘s Jason Lloyd and revealed some surprising details about his future. Among his most memorable quotes was one in which he stated that he would not rule out a return to the Cleveland Cavaliers.
“The door’s not closed on that. I’m not saying I’m coming back and playing, I don’t know. I don’t know what my future holds. I don’t even know when I’m free.”
It’s not precisely a commitment to his previous home, but it’s unexpected that LeBron wouldn’t give some kind of quote about concentrating on this season with the LA Lakers. LeBron keeping the door open to an exit won’t do much to boost morale as the ship sinks in Los Angeles.
A return to the Cavs would be ideal for LeBron James right now. The Cavaliers are everything that the Lakers are not. They’re fresh, able to compete and appear to have future options. If LeBron does not rule out a return to the Cavs, the offseason will be a lot more exciting after this year if he decides to be traded.
