James Gunn Reveals How John Cena & Batista Are Unique Among Big Actors

WWE Hall of Famer and current Hollywood star Dave Bautista is a sought after actor in the business. Batista made a name for himself by portraying the role of Drax the Destroyer in Marvel’s Guardians Of The Galaxy film franchise. Batista always wanted a movie based on his character but it never came to fruition, which Marvel didn’t really find any need in, much to Batista’s dismay.

Bautista previously revealed that he was completely broke before nabbing the role of Drax in Marvel’s Guardians Of The Galaxy film franchise, as he had issues with tax.

On the other hand, John Cena’s role as the Peacemaker certainly won him over with the fans. So much so, that he currently has his own Peacemaker spinoff series. In fact, the spinoff is DC’s best-reviewed project to date.

While speaking with Vulture, James Gunn, who has worked with both John Cena and Dave Bautista, explained how the two are unique among big actors.

“When I saw that moment in him, I knew John was not just a performer who was funny, which is why I hired him, but a guy who had this other layer. At that moment, I knew John had that thing.

It’s a thing a lot of big actors don’t have, and that most wrestlers turned actors don’t have. Dave Bautista also has it. That’s the reason I hired him for Guardians in the first place.”

Dave Bautista’s acting career is certainly flourishing as he previously made it clear he wants to portray a variety of roles in his career. The same can be said for John Cena and it is certain both are satisfied with their Hollywood careers right now.
