Missy Elliot’s debut studio album Supa Dupa Fly was released on July 15, 1997. However, she recently posted on Instagram to flaunt her new bespoke “Supa Dupa Fly” chain designed by B&B Jewelry.
The duo-tone change is interwoven with a pendant of the rapper herself from the renowned “The Rain (Supa Dupa Fly)” music video, created by B&B Jewelry. The pendant is based on her famous garbage bag attire from the 1997 hit song, and it features every element from her ensemble. “I Can’t stand The [rain]…” Missy captioned the photo, “Thank you @bandbjewelry SUPADUPA.”
Missy Elliot was nominated into the Songwriters Hall of Fame and became the first female rapper to achieve six platinum albums following her induction. “All six of @MissyElliot’s studio albums are now certified platinum or higher, the most among female rappers.” Chart Data tweeted on Jan. 30.
Missy wrote on Twitter, expressing her delight, “This is a HUGE MILESTONE! No matter how long it took to get her I am here & I AM HUMBLY GRATEFUL. To all my SISTERS in HIP HOP y’all keep doing y’all thang & SHINING.”
One of the first tracks from her debut studio album Supa Dupa Fly was “The Rain (Supa Dupa Fly).” Busta Rhymes, Ginuwine, 702, Magoo, Da Bra, Lil’ Kim, and Aaliyah all contributed to the album, which was recorded in under two weeks. Supa Dupa Fly debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 and was certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). Missy’s debut album has sold 1.2 million copies in the United States.
