John Cena’s role as the Peacemaker certainly won him over with the fans. So much so, that he currently has his own Peacemaker spinoff series. In fact, the spinoff is DC’s best-reviewed project to date.
The show concluded its first season recently, as fans were certainly happy with how season 1 wrapped up its story. In fact, the first season even broke a huge HBO Max streaming record as well.
While speaking with Yahoo, John Cena was asked what fans can expect in Peacemaker season 2. Cena had a very amusing reply, as he made it clear he had nothing to do with any of the choices that will be shown in the second season. He also called James Gunn a madman for good measure.
”I’ve done a few of these interviews after the finale and every one of them wants to speculate about what the hell is gonna happen in Season 2. And that makes great conversation because there’s excitement over the next season. But holy s**t, I’m not responsible for any of those choices. I don’t write the thing. You gotta talk to the madman named James Gunn for that. I think he’s very clever in everything he does, and he doesn’t waste a sentence. So, in my perspective, those might indeed be safe dots to connect, but you never know. We may never see that. I don’t control any of that stuff. And we can talk ourselves in circles about what’s gonna happen on Season 2, but it’s really up to just one guy.”
Peacemaker was already renewed for a second season on HBO Max even before the first season concluded. We will have to wait and see whether the second season will end up being better than the first or not.
