Jaxson Hayes is expected by many Pelicans fans to be the big man that leads the franchise for years to come. Hayes was arrested and charged with 12 misdemeanors after a Los Angeles domestic violence incident. The NBA player pleads no contest to resisting arrest and false imprisonment charges.
Jaxson Hayes faced a judge in L.A. regarding his July arrest on Thursday. As per TMZ, the Pelicans center entered a no contest plea for a resisting arrest and false imprisonment charge. The 21-year-old former Texas star was facing 10 other charges.
The judge dismissed 10 out of the 12 charges Hayes was facing. Hayes was arrested on July 28, 2021 for resisting arrest by the Los Angeles Police Department. Officers were investigating a radio call that involved a domestic dispute between Hayes and his girlfriend.
Hayes refused to allow Cops inside upon their arrival. which sparked a scuffle. At least one police officer sustained an injury. Hayes allegedly shoved an officer into a wall and was treated for minor injures before being taken into custody.
A no contest plea could still result in a conviction on his record despite not pleading guilty. Each of the two charges carries up to 364 days in jail, a fine or both. Jaxson Hayes will learn his fate on June 14.
