Maude Apatow is really passionate about acting. The actress plays Lexi Howard in HBO hit series Euphoria. Apparently, Maude is not afraid of having things get a bit gnarly on set.
Maude Apatow is trying her best to get out of the shadows of her famous parents. She is proving her amazing acting skills by proving the extent to which she can go to get into a character. In an interview with Seth Myers, Maude opened up about ripping her own tooth out for a role.
Method acting is a go to for many actors, like former Batman, Christian Bale. Judd Apatow’s daughter surely grew up around a lot of actors and no wonder she learned a few tricks at a very young age. In discussing her love for theatre and acting Maude told Seth, “I started when I was really young. I remember I always really went for it too, I did like a Gold Rush day and I wanted to look like a miner so I ripped out my tooth.”
Maude clarified that the tooth wasn’t ready to be pulled, proving her pure zeal for performance. “It was not a loose tooth at all. It was not ready to go, I just ripped it out… I think I was nine. But I was dedicated!” she explained. Ouch! that’s got to hurt.
When asked how her parents – actress Leslie Mann and director Judd Apatow – responded to her tooth-pulling she said, ‘I think my dad was like, “What is wrong with her? We’ve raised a monster.” Maude explained that her obsession to get the best out of her acting got worse as she got older. “And then it just got worse as I got older. I just became a tyrant.” Watch the interview below for more insight.
