“Pawn Stars” star Rick Harrison is being sued by his mother for family assets and ownership of the Las Vegas firm featured on the long-running reality TV show. Attorneys for Harrison’s mother, Joanne Harrison, filed the civil case in Nevada state court, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
Rick Harrison, Gold & Silver Pawn Shop, the businesses Harrison Properties and JoRich Properties, as well as others, are named as defendants in the lawsuit. Joanne Harrison was married for 58 years to the late Richard Harrison, who was known on the show as “The Old Man,” according to the breach-of-contract complaint.
Rick Harrison told the newspaper: “The allegations are false and I think that my 81-year old mother is being manipulated by others for their personal gain.”
It claimed that while she was in the hospital in 2000 or 2001, one of the couple’s three sons, Rick Harrison, had her sign up her 51 percent ownership interest in the pawn store to him. The firm was featured in a History Channel episode in 2009, which also featured grandson Richard Corey Harrison and family friend Austin “Chumlee” Russell.
According to the lawsuit, Joanne Harrison inherited Richard Harrison’s 49 percent share of the pawn store after he died in 2018, but Rick Harrison has neglected to furnish her with complete financial documents. Joanne Harrison also claimed she has been unable to obtain a proper accounting of more than $500,000 in cash and silver that her husband allegedly accumulated before to his death.
