Russia is annexing Ukraine and the entire world is shook. Since Russia’s invasion, over 300 people have been injured and just over 130 have lost their lives, according to reports. It was also revealed that Russian military have assumed control of Chernobyl, and various international leaders, including President Joe Biden, have condemned the attack as unjustified.
The world has been outraged by Russia’s aggressive invasion of Ukraine, except presumably former President Donald Trump, as Seth Meyer lamented. Meyers used video from Trump’s appearance at a super PAC event at his Florida club on Wednesday to make his case. While Ukrainians awaited their country’s neighbor’s impending invasion, Trump was on stage praising Russian President Vladimir Putin’s tactics.
So, if you’re like most people, you were shocked and horrified But if you were Donald Trump, apparently you were at Mar-a-Lago watching it with a bunch of Palm Beach plastic surgeons and their third wives and thinking, ‘You really got to hand it to Vladimir Putin.’
First of all, stop talking about everything like it’s a f-cking real estate deal. It’s an illegal war against a sovereign nation, not an empty lot in Atlantic City.
Second, if you ever find yourself at a fancy high-dollar fundraiser clinking Champagne glasses while the keynote speaker applauds an illegal and catastrophic war that will cause mass suffering and destabilize an entire continent, maybe take a moment to text your therapist and ask, ‘Am I a bad person?’
During a campaign event in Florida, the former president praised Putin for his military takeover of Ukraine and dubbed his recent measures as smart. Trump’s words outraged White House Deputy Press Secretary Andrew Bates, who blasted him in a scathing tweet. “Two nauseating, fearful pigs who hate what America stands for and whose every action is driven by their own weakness and insecurity, rubbing their snouts together and celebrating as innocent people lose their lives.”
Meanwhile, President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine has stated that they are killing the innocent and transforming peaceful cities into military targets. Meyers was appalled by the property mogul’s thinking. Check out the Late Night video below.
